Getting Started

Welcome to Erotaiplay! We're so glad you've joined us in our grand roleplaying adventures. We encourage you to start your adventure by creating a persona and joining a story! Click the Roleplay link at the top of the page to get started!

When you registered, you created a new Persona, which you can use in Roleplay Stories. To join a story, click on a Persona with an [open] tag on it.

To claim this character, you can choose to use the Main Claim option, which will insert the Persona you created at the time of registration into the story.

Or you can choose to use the Claim option, which will insert you into the story with the persona as-is.

If you choose to claim the persona as-is.

It will appear in the story with any details the story owner added to it. If the story owner allows it, you can edit these fields to customize the persona to your liking.

After claiming a persona, or inserting your main persona into a story, you're ready to Roleplay! You'll be able to begin posting in the story right away.

This is a short guide on how to get started in the Roleplaying section of the website. If you have any questions or feedback, check out the rest of our FAQ or contact us using the link at the bottom of the page.

What are personas?

A persona is a character which you or another person roleplays as. Most aspects of the site are intended to be approached in character (which is to say, as a persona). We like to think of personas as costumes or masks, so dress as whoever you’d like to roleplay, share your costumes with your friends, and join the masquerade!

What is a private persona?

A private persona is a character that a user has created which cannot be copied, or played by any person who does not own that persona. Remember, when you’re inviting a private persona, you’re inviting that specific roleplayer to your story. If you want that persona to be played by anybody, you’ll have to create it through your own personas list, or when creating a story.

Note: Personas are private by default

How do I create a story?

You can create a story through the stories page, while browsing personas, or by clicking the "Start Story" button in one of your private messages.

Once you're in the story creation page, you can search, or create new characters you want to roleplay as and with. Once you have your characters set invite your friends to claim those characters, set the scene and have fun!

How do I leave a story?

There are two ways to leave a story. If it is not a private persona, you can unclaim the character you have been roleplaying as by clicking [Unclaim]. This will remove you from posting as that character in the story, but leave that character/persona open for another person to claim.

You can also click the [Leave Story] button at the bottom, which removes you and any personal private personas from the story entirely.

Note: If you are the story owner, leaving the story using the [Leave Story] button will also delete the story and everything with it.

Unclaiming a private persona will remove you from the story, along with the details, kinks, and images of your persona. This will leave all in your messages intact, and the basic details of the persona - character name, type, and bio - for others to claim. The star next to the perosna name will be empty, the persona will be marked as [open] and there will be a claim button beneath the bio.

How do I remove someone from my story?

There are two ways to remove a user from your story.

1) Eject User: If you use the eject button to remove someone from a story, that person can reclaim that persona, or any open persona from any of your stories. Eject is useful for when you have an inactive user taking up one of your character slots.

2) Block User: If you do not want to role-play with that person again, you can click the block button. By clicking block, that person will be removed from the story, and will be unable to rejoin, or claim any persona from any of your stories. That user will also never be able to send you Private Messages or add you as a friend.

What does Anyone Can View mean?

A story that allows watchers grants non-participants to view. Anyone with the story link can view the story.

Note: Private stories that allow watchers are searchable in the stories section. However, only participants (those with claimed characters) can actually contribute to the story.

What does Anyone Can Claim mean?

You can create a story through the stories page, while browsing personas, or by clicking the "Start Story" button in one of your private messages.

Once you're in the story creation page, you can search, or create new characters you want to roleplay as and with. Once you have your characters set invite your friends to claim those characters, set the scene and have fun!

What does Claimed Only mean?

A hidden story only allows active participants to view. You must claim a character to view the story.

What does Invite Only mean?

Only users who have been invited to a private story by the story owner may participate in it. A private story is not searchable in the stories section unless it also allows watchers.

Once you're in the story creation page, you can search, or create new characters you want to roleplay as and with. Once you have your characters set invite your friends to claim those characters, set the scene and have fun!

What is claiming?

When you claim a persona/character, you’re becoming that character in a story. While creating a story, you can add personas to the story, and leave them unclaimed for other people to join you.

You can claim an open persona from a story by clicking on the persona name, and choosing claim.

When inviting a private persona to your story, that persona is automatically claimed by the user who owns it.

What is the difference between a basic/open persona, and a private persona?

A basic/open persona is a character slot that the story owner has created. This is done in the story creation page by clicking the [new] option when adding a persona.

As the story owner, you can add specific traits or a persona bio for a basic/open persona to RP with or as, without having to create a new personal persona.

If you do not wish for the user claiming a basic/open persona to be able to edit the details you've entered, click the Lock option on the persona info screen.

What are Gems and how do I gain them?

Gems are currency used throughout Erotaiplay. You were given three gems when you registered, and earn additional gems by leveling up. Your Gem balance is always visible in the upper right corner of the site.

You can gain experience to level up by posting in stories, filling out your Personas' bios, adding erotica or hentai to the site, and praising your friends.

You will also receive a monthly gift of gems per month when you become a member by clicking Join Now at the bottom right of the site.

What are Praise Badges?

Praise Badges are awarded to Personas, erotica, or hentai. It's a fun way of letting other users know you appreciate them! You can praise a Persona, erotica, or hentai by clicking on the praise buttons located throughout the site.

When you click a praise button, a Badge purchase window will appear.

When you choose a badge to award, you will have the opportunity to write a short message to its recipient if you wish. Type in your message and click Submit Praise.

If you do not have enough Gems to purchase a badge, you can Purchase them by clicking Buy Gems.

How do I add someone as a friend?

You can add a friend from a story page or from a persona profile.

Remember, when you add a friend, you’re sharing usernames. You will be able to see one another’s usernames, as well as one another’s currently active personas and public stories.
